Cosmetic Services

With modern dental techniques and materials, there are many ways that we can change the look of your smile and correct problems such as chips, gaps, cracks, exposed roots, stains and crooked teeth.

What makes our practice unique, however, is our emphasis on ensuring the good functioning of your teeth as an integral part of our cosmetic dental services. With their advanced education and training, the doctors can correctly diagnose problems with tooth and jaw alignment and treat them to relieve the pain and the stress that they cause. When you receive cosmetic dental care from us, your smile will feel good, function well and look great.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

We use bonded ceramic composite resins for tooth restorations. Not only do these fillings look natural, they eliminate many of the shortcomings of the old fashioned silver fillings. They seal the teeth better, insulate against hot and cold better, and if they wear down they can be repaired easier. Many people who are undergoing a cosmetic improvement on their front teeth elect to have dark silver fillings in their back teeth replaced with the bonded ceramic resins to provide a total cosmetic improvement.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are durable coverings for your teeth that can change their position, shape, size and color. Porcelain veneers can be a good solution for anyone with chipped, stained, discolored, unevenly spaced, or slightly crooked front teeth. They provide a completely improved and dazzling smile in just a few appointments.

Whitening

Whitening your teeth is a quick and effective way to improve your smile. We offer two types of teeth whitening: Zoom™ in-office, which takes about two hours, and DayWhite® take-home trays (which you can use for the initial treatment and then for touchup whitenings later).

Bonding

We use bonding materials to correct small defects in your smile—gaps between teeth, spots, chips and discoloration and even fractures. After the bonding material is applied to your tooth, the doctor sculpts it to the proper shape and then hardens it with a special lamp. Bonding allows us to make big improvements in just one visit, without the need for any numbing.

All Porcelain Onlays, Inlays and Crowns

If you have a large area of decay in your tooth, the doctors prefer to try to conserve the tooth structure by doing porcelain onlays whenever possible. Onlays cover one or more of the cusps (bumps) in your tooth. Onlays, which are bonded into place, strengthen the tooth and keep it looking natural. Gum tissue stays healthier around onlays, too, particularly when compared to a crown that uses metal parts.

Inlays are similar to onlays, but fit within the cusps of your tooth.

A crown covers the tooth above the gum to restore its appearance and function, and may be used when a tooth is cracked, broken, decayed or worn.

We use strong, tooth-colored porcelain for our onlays, inlays and crowns. Porcelain material closely matches the composition of natural tooth structure. This means when you eat hot food and then drink something cold, the restoration and tooth expand and contract at almost equal rates so your tooth does not crack.

Dental Sleep Medicine

Dr Ehmann has recently gained interest in Dental Sleep Medicine. Many patients suffer from sleep disordered breathing which not only causes snoring and sleep apnea, but can also be the cause of high blood pressure and COPD. Recent studies have linked patients with sleep apnea to higher risk of cancer and stroke.

Not all patients are able to comply with other treatments, such as CPAP, and may be candidates for dental sleep appliances.

Recontouring

In our office, we use a laser to recontour soft tissue, removing excess tissue from gums or making a gum line appear more even. Recontouring your soft tissue can make your smile more attractive.
